Privacy Policy
This policy explains what weightpOp (the app) and weightpop.com (the website) collect and how it is used. weightpOp is operated by an individual developer. You can reach us at rafriv84@icloud.com.
What we handle
- Account details: your name, email address and password. These are stored on our server so you can sign in on any device. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in readable form.
- Technical data: your IP address is briefly logged to limit sign-in abuse and spam.
- Profile picture: the photo you choose for your account. It is stored on your device.
- Body and goal information: height, weight, age, sex (used in the calorie formula), goal weight, activity level, and food filters. This is health-related information. It is stored on your device and used to calculate your plan.
- Your activity: your meal times, meal picks, which meals you checked off, and your weight log. Stored on your device.
- Progress photos: optional before and after photos. Stored on your device and protected by your iPhone's encryption while it is locked.
- Shared photos: only if you turn on sharing for a photo. See below.
- Support emails: anything you send us.
Sharing a photo on weightpop.com
If you turn on "Share on weightpop.com" for a photo and confirm our photo rules, we receive that photo, your gain statistics (for example, pounds gained and time on your plan), and a record of when you agreed. We review the photo before it can appear. Approved photos may be shown at random on weightpop.com next to other members' photos, and in our own promotion of the app. We do not show your name or email with a shared photo unless you tell us we may.
You can withdraw a shared photo at any time by turning sharing off in the app or emailing us. We will remove it from the site. Copies that you or others have saved or posted elsewhere are outside our control.
Sharing a progress card
The progress card is created on your device. When you share it, you choose the app and audience through the iPhone share sheet. We do not receive it.
How we use information
- to build your plan, menus and grocery list;
- to run your account and respond to support requests;
- to review and display photos you chose to share;
- to keep the Service safe, and to follow the law.
We do not sell your personal information, do not use it for advertising, and do not use third-party analytics or ad trackers in the app or on this website.
Who else sees it
We use hosting and database providers to run the website and store the information described above. They process it for us and may not use it for their own purposes. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm. Nutrition data in the app comes from USDA FoodData Central; no personal information is sent to them.
How long we keep it
Information on your device stays until you delete it or delete the app. Account details are kept while your account is open. Shared photos are kept until you withdraw them or delete your account. After a deletion request we remove the data we hold, apart from anything we must keep by law.
Your choices
- Add, replace or remove photos, and turn sharing on or off, in the Progress tab.
- Clear your stats and weight log with "Start over" in My plan.
- Ask us to delete your account and any photos we hold, or to give you a copy of your data, by emailing rafriv84@icloud.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, such as access, correction and deletion. Email us and we will respond.
Security
Photos are stored using iPhone file protection, and our website is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your phone updated.
Children
weightpOp is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
Health information
weightpOp is a general wellness app, not a medical service. Information you enter is not covered by medical privacy laws such as HIPAA, but we treat it with care and only use it as described here.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
